My name is Tori Cook and I am pleased to introduce myself as the 2011 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival Volunteer Coordinator. As the Volunteer Coordinator, it is my job to continue finding the highest quality interns, lead volunteers, and general volunteers for this year’s event, “Explorations of the Heart”. As an alumnus of the University of Idaho music department, it is exciting for me to have a job where my passion for jazz music surrounds me every day and I hope to bring that same passion to each volunteer.
We are currently searching for the following lead volunteer positions:
Volunteer Program Interns (2): Help with marketing for volunteers, assist in planning recognition events, assist in pre-festival duties, general office duties, assist in managing volunteers, assist in scheduling volunteers, assist in communication with volunteers, 5-10 hours per week until February (10+ hours)
Drive Coordinator: In charge of handling all drivers for the event, 50+ volunteers, scheduling drives, managing volunteer forms, handling background checks, distributing duties to and managing 4-6 sub-coordinators, train drive team leaders and volunteers
Drive Sub-Coordinators (4-6): In charge of scheduling either arrivals or departures, manage 15+ volunteers, assist in training volunteers
Jazz in Schools Coordinator: in charge of managing volunteers who go in to the schools with the artists, scheduling volunteers for each day in JIS, updating, handling, and reviewing JIS evaluations, assisting in communication between young artists and schools, maintaining contact with participating schools
Night Crew Sub-Coordinators: Assist in managing volunteers backstage, assist in stage set-ups, assist in operations of set-ups and production, assist in scheduling volunteers
Pre-festival Volunteers: Help with anything that leads up to the festival! (examples: marketing for volunteers, office duties, contacting young artists, schools, etc)
