Position Summary: Reporting to Sr. Advanced Development Engineer, create and maintain 3D CAD models and drawings, specifications and Bills of Materials for released product and new product development concepts. Support product development process and work cross-functionally by converting conceptual ideas into functional formats timely. Maintain well organized and efficient methods for maintaining accurate drawings and data. Recommend design and/or process improvements where appropriate. Work with Asian resources to ensure accurate and timely processing of drawings and other required information. Assist other engineers as needed.
Responsibilities: • Create CAD 3D and 2D CAD data for assigned product development projects, including, but not limited to existing and new product and packaging designs. • Perform Solidworks/PDM Work Group CAD Administrative activities and maintain hardware/software resources. • Work closely with cross-functional Project Team to review, recommend and ensure requirements to produce product CAD data and designs that satisfy manufacturing, cost, safety/regulatory and quality specifications. • Work closely with domestic and global suppliers to implement supplier core competencies with product specifications to meet all project requirements. • Participate in company continuous improvement/Lean initiatives. • Work closely with other Engineers and Quality Department to assist in performing design and development experiments and product testing. • Assist with review of samples to ensure required specifications are satisfied timely • Assist with creation and, modification of MSDS documents, and obtaining supplier or other required product safety information as needed and/or requested. • Comply with company safety guidelines. • Work within budget requirements. • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Associate Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent plus strong proficiency and at least 3 years of Solidworks CAD experience, ideally the most recent release. Must have at least 1 year of PDM Work Group, 3 years creating and maintaining Bills of Materials, and ideally 1 year of consumer products industry experience. Must be self-directed with the ability to make sound decisions and communicate effectively internally and externally. Will have a strong passion for delivering timely and accurate results and maintaining current market knowledge.
