VOLUNTEER CHINESE AMERICAN MOTHERS NEEDED FOR RESEARCH * Have you experienced any increased sadness or depression from motherhood in the past 12 months? * Were you born in the U.S.? * Are you currently married to a Chinese male? Do you have a single child that is 12 months or younger together? * Are you between 21 and 35 years old? Would you like to explore what helped you to become the parent that you are today?
If you answered yes to all of the above, this study may be for you.
I am seeking volunteers for my research about Chinese values and experiencing mood changes in Chinese American mothers.
Volunteers will be asked to participate in a phone screening procedure. If you are found to match the study criteria, you will be invited to participate in a confidential interview of up to 2.5 hours, scheduled at your convenience.
My hope is that this study will contribute to our understanding of postpartum depression in Chinese women. It also may offer you an opportunity to reflect on your personal experience and strengths. The audiotaped interview will be transcribed by myself, and only I will have access to any identifying information. The interviews will be held at a pre-arranged time at the California School of Professional Psychology- Alliant International University 1 Beach St., San Francisco, CA or a place at your convenience and comfort. A sum of $25 cash will be given at the end of the interview as my way of thanking you for your involvement in my study.
If interested, please respond via email. Please provide a name and phone number along with a convenient time to reach you so we can schedule the initial screening phone conversation. Iíll be glad to answer any questions you may have.
