Job Responsibilities: This position exists to define, implement and continuously improve the process used to integrate, verify, release and audit software installed in enterprise systems serving internal and external customers. The incumbent works proactively to increase productivity of release efforts and provisions methods to track and assess release planning effectiveness. Specific attention is paid to coordination of release deliverables, including integration and certification plans. Finally, this position works cross-functionally to coordinate IS activities with non-IS entities in company. Accountabilities include: 1. Manage installation activities for scheduled software product releases. This also includes: a. Development of broad release processes. Development of release plans and assurance that release artifacts such as fallback plans for scheduled software releases, as well as, for emergency (RAS severity 1 problem resolutions/fixes) releases are in place. Negotiates with management to secure resources necessary to support and complete the release. 2. Drives tactical exception analysis of all release issues and makes recommendations on all intra-release risk management issues based on the balance of business needs to operability requirements. 3. Determines the production readiness of candidate projects. 4. Maintains critical release data for products/projects accepted into a release via the Webstar system. 5. Mentors projects and product teams on release processes. 6. Assists in continuous improvements of all release related processes and services. 7. Monitors progress against approved schedules and processes. Identifies exceptions and leads follow-up resolutions through development of alternative courses of action to meet goals. 8. Recommend modifications that insure continuous improvement of department tools and resources. 9. Demonstrates a propensity to take ownership of critical business and release issues to develop processes or applications to enhance the group's ability to achieve its goals. 10. Communicate schedule and hot issues to the development team and work with team members to make any necessary fixes to keep the release process on schedule. 11. Leads Release Planning, release planning efforts, and release status meetings. Communicates decisions and actions resulting from same. 12. Maintain a comprehensive release calendar for business events that impact the availability requirements for systems, i.e. the sales meetings, yearly planning, customer demos 13. Documents and communicates issues to development, user communities and senior management. Maintains critical release data for products/projects accepted into a release.
Job Requirements: HS diploma + 4 yrs Release mgt. experience; proven success in leading others to accomplish objectives; Demonstrated conflict management and negotiation skills; ability to communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical people at various levels of the organization; Strong understanding of planning, design, implementation and support of enterprise software applications; expert knowledge of product level configuration management principles; Experience in the various stages of the software development life cycle; ability to work well with developers, test engineers, and non-engineering personnel; Project management experience
