Some risks associated with fecal matter…… -Uncollected feces is a significant contributor to ground water pollution. -It is estimated that a single gram of dog feces contains up to 23 million coliform bacteria which can cause diarrhea, cramps, intestinal illness or serious kidney disorders in humans. The EPA estimates that only a few days worth of fecal matter from a population of about 100 dogs has enough bacteria to temporarly close a bay and all of it's watershed for 20 miles to all shellfishing and swimming. It can also contain a whole host of parasites, some of which can be transmitted to humans and some are very difficult to treat. Some of these are, Heart worms-transmittable to humans Whipworms-transmittable to humans Hookworms-transmittable to humans Round worms-ralely transmited to humans tapeworms-transmittable to humans Parvo-non tranmittable Giardiasis-transmittable to humans Corona-non transmittable Cryptosporidiosis-transmittable to humans Salmonellosis-transmittable to humans Toxoplasmoses-transmittable to humans - And of course we all know fecal matter smells badly and when it accumulates in your yard flies lay their eggs and so maggots are formed, and I don't think anyone likes that.
