Seeking Film Intern for the New York Public Library's Public Programming series:
LIVE from the NYPL.
This position begins in September 2010 and continues
through December (or longer). We are currently looking for applicants who
are available during businness hours (9-5 or 10-6) + evenings when there are LIVE programs to assist with filming.
The schedule for the Fall 2010 Season will be finalized in August.
There will be about 15 programs between September 12th and December 10th.

LIVE from the NYPL is the Public Programming series at The New York Public Library. LIVE's mission is to create cognitive theater and provide a
platform for the kinds of provocative conversations, debates and interviews
that "agitate the mind". LIVE from the NYPL has welcomed some of the
world's most influential thinkers, leaders, authors, historians, artists,
and politicians including Salman Rushdie, Günter Grass & Norman Mailer,
Bill Clinton & John Hope Franklin, Zadie Smith, Spike Lee, Lou Reed, Wes

Location: LIVE from the NYPL, the Public Programs series at The New York
Public Library on Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street, NYC.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assisting with various aspects of production and post production
including filming programs and editing event footage, organizing media, pulling video clips, and working on marketing and outreach strategies for video content.
Internship will also include other department duties and responsibilities.


§ Proficiency in Final Cut
§ Knowledge of DVD studio pro
§ Interest in cultural programs
§ Have an interest in event production, literature, the arts
§ Ability to take notes (highlights) that include timecode during program
§ Technical knowledge of and ability to operate a camera
§ Background in Film or Media Studies
§ Work well with others
§ Available to work evenings on event days.

Applicants should be skilled in working a camera, proficient in working
with both PC and Mac computers, possess competent research, social media
and networking skills. We are interested in your ideas for outreach and
outreach development in terms of getting our content out to a wider
audience. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

We welcome applications from both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The length of the internship is 4 months. This is a part time, unpaid
internship. If you have specific scheduling requirements we are happy to
discuss your needs.
