EXPERIENCED Surgical and Recovery Technician needed for a busy, fast paced Spay/Neuter Clinic in Mesa, AZ.

JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a FULL-TIME position, Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Yes, that means NO weekends, NO nights, NO emergencies and NO on-call status so you can have a life outside your job. This position is also eligible for medical/dental insurance, vacation/holiday pay and profit-sharing (i.e. monthly bonuses).

1. Surgery:
Knowledge of Controlled Substances (Drug) Log, calculations and administration.
Pre-anesthetic medication administration.
Anesthesia induction: IV/IM/SQ injections, blood draws (i.e. jugular, cephalic and saphenous), catheter placement, intubation and patient monitoring.
Perform proper patient assessment and make anesthetic corrections if needed (based off of TPR's, CRT's, mucous membrane color, anesthesia depth and etc.).
Ability to intubate a cat by yourself is a plus.
Surgical preparation (shaving, clipping, sterilization, bladder expression).
Pre-, peri- and post-operative care and management of surgical patients.
Ability to maintain patient and clinic medical records with a high level of competency/completion and accuracy.
Knowledge of medical terms and surgical instruments.

2. Recovery:
Helping animals recover from surgical anesthesia (extubation, monitoring TPR's, CRT's, mucous membrane color, speed of anesthesia recovery, and etc ).
Patient care, patient care and patient care!
Administer medication to animals as directed by one of the doctors on staff. Ensure that any medication is in stock, clearly labeled and available for use.
Sterilization procedures (cleaning and making surgical packs, autoclaving surgical instruments)
Answering phones (scheduling/confirming appointments, answering client questions and concerns).
Ensure proper animal restraining techniques are being used.
Cleaning kennels/animals and the clinic as needed.
Respond to animal medical and/or behavioral issues as needed.

3. Skills and Requirements:
Candidate MUST be able to work in a FAST-PACED environment. Candidate must be able to learn quickly and think on their feet.
Must be highly motivated, detail-oriented, professional, dedicated, focused, independent and be able to prioritize/handle multiple projects at once in a timely and efficient manner without distraction.
Candidate must have a positive attitude and a happy demeanor.
Must have excellent communication skills. Candidate must also be confident and poised in interactions with individuals at all levels (clients, staff and doctors).
Ability to maintain a positive rapport with clients in person as well as over-the-phone.
Ability to maintain a HIGH LEVEL of patient care (this is our number #1 priority).
Must be able to physically lift 50 lbs.
Small animal experience is REQUIRED.
Previous Spay/Neuter experience is highly desired.

Compensation: Hourly: $10.00-$12.00* per hour depending on experience. *However, with monthly bonuses the average hourly salary is $14.00-$17.00 per hour). And more importantly, NO nights, NO weekends, NO emergencies and NO on-call status so you can enjoy your life outside of work.
