I am offering low brass (trombone, baritone horn, and tuba) and general music theory lessons for children and adults. I am a licensed elementary and secondary (PreK-12th grade) music teacher through the State of Colorado. I teach lessons at my home in Parker but I am willing to travel to you if you prefer that I come to your home for your lessons. I have a fairly flexible schedule during the week (late afternoon and evening) and during the weekend. I will work with you and your child to figure out a time that works best. I will evaluate student progress and develop lessons each week that will benefit the student and promote effective music learning. My rates are very reasonable and competitive with the current market.
I love to teach and I can’t wait to share my experience and knowledge!!! References are available upon request.
Instructor: Shawn Funk
Contact Information: E-mail is the best contact, just reply to this ad! Please, no text messages or sales calls!
Instructor Training: Bachelor of Arts in Music (Western State College of Colorado, May 2006) Master of Music in Music Education (Boston University, September 2010 – projected)
15 years of low brass study (5 years – baritone horn, 11 years – trombone)
Starting my 5th year of teaching in the State of Colorado.
Currently teach instrumental music with Denver Public Schools (middle school).
Tuition: Lessons are done primarily at my studio/home in Parker, Colorado. I can, however, arrange to teach lessons at your home if this fits better with your schedule provided you are within approximately 15 miles of Parker, Colorado (I am pretty flexible with this…I just don’t want to drive all over the state to teach!!!).
$10.00 discount applied to lesson fees if each month is paid in advance!!! (see below)
NOTE: If you cannot afford to take lessons at the prices below, please contact me anyway and we can figure out a way to make it work. I am focused on providing kids with a solid music education. I would hate for financial issues to get in the way of that!!!
Books/Materials: Instruments must be provided by the student (I can provide information about stores that rent with options for “rent-to-own” as well). Students will be required to purchase an instrumental method music book or music theory book to work with during their lessons and at home (I will provide information about this requirement at the first lesson). It is highly suggested that each student purchases (or rents, depending on the store) a portable music stand for practicing at home.
Ages: Beginning and Intermediate instrumental students of all ages. Specifically late elementary (3rd/4th/5th grade), middle, and high school.
