Don’t let the lower price of the Thompson Drywashers fool you…the
Thompson Drywasher has an excellent recovery rate.
The top box classifies the material to about 3/8 of an inch. In the
bottom of the top box is an adjustable gate, so you can control the
amount of material that goes onto the riffles.
The riffles and riffle tray are one piece for easy clean up. You just
loosen the latch and take the riffle tray out along with the
Three Models Available
Leaf Blower Model: The Leaf Blower Model needs a small leaf blower
(not included). In the bottom of the riffle box is a 12-blade fan with
an adjustable weight on one side. You can change the speed of the
fan by moving the weight. Moving the weight out will slow the fan
down, moving it in will speed it up. I recommend you leave the weight
where it is and adjust the speed of the leaf blower. It is easy to set
up. Just stand the legs up and set the drywasher on them. It has a
chain in the front to adjust the riffle box angle. Set up, it is 40” high,
22” long, and 9” wide. The riffles are 8” wide. Folded up, the leaf
blower model is 14” high, 22” long and 14” wide. The legs on the Leaf
Blower Model are separate and are 42” long. The leaf blower weighs
about 18 lbs.
Hand Crank Model: The Hand Crank Model is very similar to the Leaf
Blower Model, in that the top box and the riffle tray are the same. The
Hand Crank Model has a bellows that moves the material over the
riffles. There is a crank that moves the bellows. The crank moves the
same speed as the bellows and is very efficient, along with being easy
to set-up and take down. To set this model up, insert the back legs in
the leg holders, lift the top box up and insert the front legs in the
holders and you are ready to go. Set up, the Hand Crank Model is 40”
high, 22” long, and 9” wide. The riffles are 8” wide. Folded up, the
Hand Crank Model is 12” high, 36” long and 18” wide. The legs fold
up. The handcrank weighs about 17 lbs.
The advantages and disadvantages between the two are that the Leaf
Blower Model will run more material than the Hand Crank Model, but it
needs a leafblower motor (not included) and it’s noisy. The Hand
Crank Model is quiet and you don’t have to buy anything else.
12 Volt Model: The 12-Volt Model is the Hand Crank Model with the
addition of a 12-volt motor. The motor weighs 5 lbs. and slips on the
back legs. All you need to do is unhook the crank rod from the
handcrank and put it on the motor crank and you are ready to go. You
will need a 12-volt battery (not included). It will run about 5 1/2
hours continuously on a motorcycle battery. The motor has two speeds
and pulls 3 1/2 amps. On high it turns about 146 rpm and on low
about 100 rpm. It will fit on any of my aluminum Hand Crank Model
12 Volt Retrofit: If you purchase, or have purchased a Hand Crank
Model, you can retrofit it to a 12 Volt-Model by purchasing the motor
assembly separately.
I guarantee all three models of my drywashers for two years -
parts and labor. If something goes wrong send me the broken
part and I will repair or replace it free. I can’t guarantee any
kind of obvious abuse or modification.
