Typical Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities include designing building mechanical systems for commercial, retail, industrial, institutional, and food service industries. Assessment of existing or new project conditions is required. The Mechanical Engineer shall be capable of multiple design solutions and applying this information in the design. Communication with Clients and Project Managers for coordination of design criteria is required.
Required Skill Sets BSME, BSArchE, and PE licensing. Analyze/Match and select HVAC systems and equipment type. Perform complicated energy analysis/modeling calculations using ASHRAE methods and recognized software suites. Familiar with eQUEST Perform any psychrometric analyses. Perform acoustical analyses, and coordinate with acoustical consultants. Project profile includes large project schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration management. - Selecting mechanical system type and size. - Hydronic system design. - Control system design. - Sequence of Operation. - Specification writing or editing. In depth knowledge of energy codes including: IECC, ASHRAE 90.1, and Title 24 Part 6. Prove conformance using Total Building Performance approach for large projects. In depth knowledge of mechanical codes, fire codes, and ASHRAE Standards as they apply to large commercial and institutional projects. Provide engineers cost estimation. Strong communication skills. AutoCAD and office computer proficiency.
