The Pulp Stage reading committee is currently reaching out to talented storytellers to submit plays that

1) run between 2 and 10 minutes (short) or between 70 and 105 minutes (feature length)

2) can qualify as Pulp: A climactic story of heightened stakes and/or sensationalist subject matter

3) have not yet had a public performance of the current draft

These plays will be considered for PULP DICTION II: A series of staged readings for the Fertile Ground Citywide Festival Of New Work in early February, 2011.

We are accepting submissions until September 15th, 2010 with the chosen PULP DICTION II lineup announced by November 1st, 2010. Plays are neither commissioned nor assisted in their development until the final set has been decided. As payment, we offer our playwrights a percentage of the series profits.

Submissions can go to artistic director, Matt Haynes
either as email text or attachment. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to call Matt at

ABOUT US: The Pulp Stage made its debut with PULP DICTION as part of Fertile Ground, late January of 2010. We opened with a Sunday evening of short pieces (everything from vampires to barfighting shapeshifters with a special drug-smuggling memoir written and performed by Bill Ratner from TV's GI JOE) and took the following Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings to test-drive new feature-length works (a MEMENTO-style noir by Oregon Book Award winner, Steve Patterson, a splatterpunk epic by Matt Haynes and PLEASURE DRIVERS screenwriter Adam Haynes, and a girlpower superhero comedy by Anna Sahlstrom). All showings were at the Brody Theatre improv club & bar downtown on Broadway and Burnside. To learn more about The Pulp Stage and our previous season, please visit us at
