ST. AUGUSTINE COLLEGE (SAC) JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
St. Augustine College is an independent, bilingual (dual language) institution of higher education created
under the auspices of the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago, to make the American system of higher education
accessible to a diverse student population with emphasis on those of Hispanic descent; to strengthen ethnic
identity; to reinforce cultural interaction; and to build a bridge to fill cultural, educational, and socioeconomic
gaps.¡¨

POSITION TITLE: DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

Primary Responsibility
Assist the VP for Institutional Advancement in all areas of fund raising and enhance the college¡¦s annual
fund. This position will focus on increasing public and private grants and contributions to the college.
The basic functions include; advancing St. Augustine College¡¦s development efforts by coordinating and
supporting a variety of development activities, including prospect research, preparation of grant requests,
database management, support of agency publications, and other general administrative support functions.

Position Responsibilities
„h Schedules and coordinates letters of inquiry, proposals, and grant applications for private and public
funders, including but not limited to, foundations, corporations, governmental entities, and civic and
religious organizations
„h Manages the department¡¦s records of donors, specifically electronic database information (Jenzabar)
and hardcopy files, including contact information, history of giving, entry and acknowledgement of
current gifts.
„h Provide support to the college¡¦s direct mail solicitation of gifts, including the development and
maintenance of appropriate mailing lists of individuals (alumni, board of trustees, and other
contacts), in cooperation with VP for Institutional Advancement and Administrative Assistant.
„h Researches, identifies, and updates information on prospective, lapsed and current donors, making
recommendations on which requests to pursue and amounts for requests.
„h Supports the college¡¦s special events, in particular the El Puente Annual Gala and other events,
including the maintenance of mailing lists, preparation of materials for committee volunteers, status
reports on income and expenses, and the responsibilities entailed in the event itself, working with a
consultant as needed.
„h Assists with routine reporting, correspondence and other aspects of the development department¡¦s
efforts in securing funds to support the mission and programs of the college.
„h Attend and participate in all departmental meeting as well as required ¡§All staff¡¨ meetings and fundraising
events.
„h Perform other duties as assigned by the VP for Institutional Advancement.

Specifications:
„h Bachelor¡¦s degree or higher required; minimum two years development experience, with proven
track record of successful corporate, foundation, special event and government fundraising
experience required.
„h Excellent writing and research abilities and skilled in word processing and database management,
preferably in Microsoft Word, Excel, and in Jenzabar.
„h Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
„h Must possess excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
simultaneously.
„h Must possess demonstrated communication skills; interpersonal skills; willingness and ability to
work effectively with college staff and volunteers, funders and donors.
„h Ability to work some evenings and weekends, attend designated meetings.
„h Maintain a respectful and appropriate relationship at all levels of SAC including students, staff and
the various constituencies of SAC, demonstrating sensitivity to all ethnic, racial and economic
backgrounds.

Salary is in mid $30,000
