Amedisys Hospice of Agawam is looking for new volunteers to assist those who are terminally ill. A hospice volunteer is a special part of the hospice team. They are peole who wish to make a difference in teh lives of the terminally ill or those who are greving by giving their time to assist a patient, family members, or the ofice staff.
New Hospice volunteers participate in free trainign that provides information regarding the hospice pholosophyof care, volunteers roles, communication skills, the psychological and spiritual aspects of death, and the interdisciplinary approach to hospice care. On average, a hospice volunteer gives between 2 and 4 hours to volunteering each week.
We are looking for 2 different types of volunteers: Direct Care Volunteers and Speical Projects Volunteers.
Direct Care Volunteers provides support in the widest range of areas import to the hospice patient and family by offereing emotional, physical and/or spiritual support as needed. Special project Volunteers are those who are a part of a group or work independantly to provide support to the office staff and/or comfort items to the hospice patients. For the most part, they have no direct contact with patients of their information.
