I am looking for a new home for Max, my 10 month old German Shepherd. Max is neutered and is current with all his shots. Max has an excellent pedigree including what I understand, German blood lines and there are no known health or hip problems in Max or his parents. He is very intelligent and is a very quick learner who is eager to please. Max is housebroken and completely toilet trained. Max loves to play and walk, and is very good at simple commands such as sit, down, heal etc. He is very good with kids. I have two children aged 5 and 8 years who visit me during their vacations and they love playing with him. Max is well socialized with other people and dogs and does not have any aggressive tendencies. Max’s ears were a bit late going up. His second ear is almost up all the way and I do not expect that to be a problem. This picture is from March 2010; I will post new pictures soon.
I work long hours and Max is alone at home when I am working and the kids are not visiting. I have tried to spend time with him before leaving to work and after coming back but he does not take loneliness very well. He gets anxious and tends to chew on things when he is alone for long periods of time.
We all love Max to death and will be heartbroken when he leaves but we feel that we are not being fair to him. I believe that company during the daytime, whether canine or human is what Max needs. I cannot afford to get another dog and hence the search for a new home for him. While we are looking for a new home for Max, we will not just give him away to anyone. In my mind, his ideal future parents have/have had big dogs in the past, possibly have another dog at home, have a reasonably big space for Max to play, and have time to spend with him. I paid two thousand dollars for Max but am willing to give him to a caring family at a nominal adoption fees if I am convinced that he will get the care and attention that he so very much needs.
