The Board of Knowledge Academies is beginning the 12 month planning process for the launch of a college prep charter school for grades 5 - 12. We are proactively forming an instructional leadership team to collaborate with the Board and the Executive Director in launching this new educational enterprise. See the strategic timeline.
This instructional team will be comprised of outstanding teacher leaders who welcome the opportunity to transform the lives of middle school students from traditionally underserved communities. Interested candidates must have an intense passion for issues related to educating urban students. The measure of success for all staff is improved academic achievement outcomes through unity of effort, collaborative planning, and teamwork.
Candidates should have experience with curriculum mapping, differentiated instruction, and interpreting value-added achievement data. Fluency with instructional technology and digital media is preferred.
Candidates will collaborate with the Executive Director and the Board in planning related to all issues impacting teaching and learning.

Both the Executive Director and the instructional team will serve as volunteers through the submission and approval of the application by the Board of Metro Nashville Public Schools.
Candidates will possess at least a B.A. / B.S., eligible to teach in Tennessee public schools.
The applicant should have at least 2 years experience in the classroom.
The Knowledge Academies design is built on the following principles:
•20 to 1 student to teacher ratio •Longer school year and instructional day •More daily planning time for teachers •Weekly teacher - parent feedback loop •Student centered instruction, supported by individualized tutoring •Online archive of core academic lessons, updated weekly, aligned to state standards •Intense focus on writing, literacy, and academic mastery •Grade promotion based on end of year thesis, academics, and community service •Academic focus on entrepreneurship, service learning, and technology •Real world connection to business leaders and college mentors •Teacher evaluation based on real-time, student and parent feedback •Rigorous college prep curriculum
The faculty of Knowledge Academies will work under renewable 2-year contracts, provided compensation for 200 days of service each academic year. In addition to traditional school breaks, teachers will be provided 3 weeks of summer vacation and a comprehensive health benefits package.
Salary (Pending Charter School Application Approval): $35,000 to $39,000.
