The Board of Knowledge Academies invites applications for the position of Co-Founder / Chief Operating Officer.
Exemplary candidates will have prior experience as an entrepreneur or leader in a non-profit or corporate setting.
Applicants must have a passion for empowering urban students and their families. Ideal candidates will have a deep knowledge of education, public policy, community organizing, and teaching. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Executive Director and Board in 9 months of strategic planning leading to the launch of a new educational enterprise, serving students grades 5 - 12. See the strategic timeline.
The process of launching a new charter school is a time intensive endeavor. The Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, and Board will work closely on developing all key relationships, networks, and financing associated with founding an excellent non-profit organization. All members will serve as volunteers (8 to 12 hours per month), pending the successful submission of an excellent charter school application to the Board of Metro Nashville Public Schools. Upon the application's approval the Co-Founder will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the organization, reporting to a talented and committed Board of Directors.
