Nacel Open Door is dedicated to promoting international understanding and language education. Nacel Open Door believes it is essential for young people to develop a deeper awareness of their role as citizens of the world through direct experience in other cultures and languages. Homestays are the foundation of most Nacel Open Door programs. The friendships which result from living as a member of a host family encourage continued communication and understanding of other people.
Host families are volunteer families who are interested in experiencing another culture with a student from abroad. Families are very enthusiastic about sharing their home with a foreign student. Host families welcome the student as a part of their family, but do not need to be responsible for them Monday through Friday from 9 to 5:00. If the student is not able to walk or ride bike to the study center because of the distance, the host family is asked to drive the student in the morning and pick up the student at the end of the afternoon.
Students do not need to have their own room but they MUST have their own bed. Students will range in age from 15-18.
