Recently a friend, who is a nurse and massage therapist, went to Haiti with a medical team, to provide medical treatment to the folks there. She worked with many mothers whose babies did not have proper diapering as the boat loads (literally) of disposal diapers have been used and the babies bare bottoms are being exposed directly to the dirt as they sit on the ground. The disposable diaper supply is not continuing, AND they have created a environmental nightmare. (Infa-structure is non-existent, trash removal, etc.). Scabies is a major problem in the temporary tent cities and without protection the babies are experiencing scabies in their private areas. My friend is returning to Haiti the first week of August and will be taking not only her daughter to help, but 4 or more large suit cases filled with cloth diapers. We need your help….please donate either good used diapers or the funds to help purchase them. A local Diaper Company has offered to sell us their diapers at cost!
My friend is going to a tent village in one of the most devastated areas and would like to provide at least 2 diapers to each mother and her baby. Since she will be taking them down, we know they will end up where we want them to go…….to the mothers. Her heart is on fire, please help me in supporting her to follow that feeling.
