The basic requirements for a Citizen Diplomat are as follows:

- Desire to work with young people/people from other cultures

- Self-motivated, able to work independently

- Comfortable dealing with people on a professional level

Other qualities that are helpful include:

- Community involvement

- Experience with exchange students

- Past or current volunteer involvement

The job description is:

- Secure short term jobs for CETUSA *Work and Travel Program participants (college-aged international students coming to work in the U.S. during their summer break) by obtaining job offers from local businesses.

- Arranging housing

- Arranging transportation

- Providing support and mentorship to each student while they are here in the U.S.

The spirit of this program is that of a volunteer, helping because you want to be involved. However, we realize that you will incur costs along the way and that your time is valuable. As such, the compensation is as follows:

- Citizen Diplomats receive 100 points per placement (CETUSA pays only for jobs that are filled by program participants). Each point is equal to one U.S. dollar. If a Citizen Diplomat recruits a new member who secures five or more job positions, the recruiter will receive a 100 point bonus (bonus will apply for every new member recruited who secures five or more job positions). Points may be cashed out or applied to qualify for CETUSA Cultural Enhancement trips. 1000 points secures the Citizen Diplomat's spot and each additional 800 points reserves a spot for a family member or friend.

The pay schedule is as follows:

- The winter intake period will be processed on January 15th of each year, after a receipt of an invoice from the Contractor.

- The spring intake period will be processed on April 15th of each year, after a receipt of an invoice from the Contractor.

- The summer intake period will be processed on July 15th of each year, after a receipt of an invoice from the Contractor.
