Have you ever wondered how your baby learns about the people, animals, and objects around them? How do infants learn about language? The Infant Cognition Lab and Infant Language and Learning Lab at CMU are now recruiting infants from 3-26 months to participate in simple, fun studies that investigate how babies think.

If you are the parent of an infant and would like to help us out with our research, you can send us an email (cmu.icl at gmail dot com), or can give our lab a call at 412-268-6122. We will then contact you when your baby is the right age for one of our studies.

All of our studies are short, safe, and not at all complicated. Your infant will play with some toys, look at pictures on a screen, or listen to speakers that play language or music. We are interested in which toys your child chooses to play with or which sounds or images they pay attention to. You will be with your child at all times during your visit to the lab. We can provide babysitting in our playroom if you need to bring other children to your appointment. Appointments can be scheduled during the day Monday-Friday, or also on evenings and weekends if that is more convenient for you. The studies themselves last 5-10 minutes, and a visit will typically take 30 minutes in total. We also provide free parking in our lot adjacent to the lab.
