Bright Beginnings Preschool is presently seeking a part time director (24 hours per week) to oversee the school's daily administration and educational program. We are a cooperative preschool committed to the philosophy that young children best learn through play. As a developmental and child centered preschool, we support each child's unique personality, learning style and needs. We emphasize social and emotional growth, mutual respect, cooperation and problem-solving.

Primary Responsibilities Include: Actively promote the school, its philosophy, and its mission in the local community; Direct and supervise the school's administrative operations; Supervise, train, evaluate, and promote the professional development of teaching staff; Attend school functions including monthly board, membership, and SVC meetings; Work with landlord to maintain property in accordance with safety and other agreed upon standards; Coordinate parent education program; Work with parents, staff, and students to address developmental issues and refer to appropriate resources when necessary; Plan, develop, and implement goals in conjunction with Board members; Ensure all state, local, and school policies are followed.

Qualifications: BA Degree in Early Childhood Education with 6 completed units in administration or staff relations; OR, BA or AA Degree with 12 core semester units in Early Childhood Education, including 6 units in administration/staff relations; 3 years teaching experience in a preschool classroom, preferably in a cooperative classroom. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), computer skills, and conflict resolution skills also required.
