External Relations Intern

Hours: To be discussed
Reports to: External Relations Manager


X Engage in active recruitment of mentors
X Take the lead on the mentor intake process to ensure prompt and effective service to both mentors and Mentors, Inc.
X Help with organization of mentor intake and organizational materials.
X Assist with production of outreach and publicity materials
X Research, propose and execute new recruiting and outreach opportunities; including but not limited to TV, radio, faith based outreach, community based outreach, and corporate outreach
X DC Society for Mentors- create and manage a Google group (see YNPNdc & YEP for reference) to bring together people interested in Mentoring
X Managing and updating mentor/recruitment database and email lists
X Updating liaison contact information for all recruitment partners
X Contact alumni of program to find out what they are currently doing
X Contact former Mentors: update contact information, interest in assisting in outreach, and interest in being re-matched
X Other projects, depending on interns experience and interest

Skills and Qualifications
X Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills.
X 1-2 years related work experience (can be cumulative during summers or academic terms).
X Enthusiasm for and experience working with youth (either professional or volunteer).
X Strong working knowledge of Internet and computer software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher.
X Flexibility, creativity.
X Ability to multitask, managing multiple projects and tasks effectively and promptly.
X Ability to work well in small, energetic and collegial office.
