Loaves & Fishes Centers Since 1970 Loaves & Fishes Centers has provided a nutritional and social lifeline for seniors through 33 meal sites in Multnomah, Washington and Clark counties and Meals-On-Wheels delivery to homebound seniors. With the help of more than 7,500 volunteers, the nonprofit, nonsectarian agency now serves 5,000 meals daily and more than 1.4 million meals each year. The agency is celebrating 40 years of service to seniors in 2010.
General Summary The Development Officer provides leadership and support to the development department by serving as a key fundraiser with responsibility for creating and successfully executing assigned annual fundraising events, managing, cultivating and stewardship of a major gift, planned giving and corporate partner portfolio and leading the development and community outreach efforts in Washington County.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Responsible for leading a volunteer committee in the planning and executing of a new Washington County Luncheon. Reach goal for the event by recruiting, supporting and empowering a volunteer committee, identifying and selling sponsorship and hosted tables, training and supporting table hosts to be fundraising captains, and positioning this event as a primary fundraiser and community awareness event for the organization in Washington County. Support other events and initiatives by selling sponsorship, filling tables and securing gifts as appropriate Responsible for all aspects of the Donate Dinner Campaign including recruitment of corporate partners, volunteers and other staff support; campaign design, volunteer training, marketing and promotion, event budget and tracking, and other ways to expand and grow the event. Provide fundraising and community outreach leadership, training and support to Washington County Center staff and volunteers. Serve as lead major gift and planned giving officer to these Centers and the surrounding area. o Beaverton o Sherwood o Forest Grove o North Plains o Hillsboro o Tigard o Juanita Pohl (Tualatin) Manage, cultivate and steward a Major Gift, Planned Giving and Corporate Partner Portfolio focused, but not limited to Washington County. Serve as a leader on the Development Team helping to develop strategies and identify new opportunities for resources. Serve as a representative of Loaves & Fishes Centers by conducting face-to-face outreach efforts in the greater Portland community on a regular and active basis. Take a role in business and service organizations within Washington County to identify partnerships and engage the community. Other duties as assigned. Skills, Abilities & Experience Three-five years proven fund raising success in nonprofit environment Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal and presentation skills Proven ability to build relationships and raise money Success in a fast-paced environment and ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities Experience with computers; Microsoft Office, fundraising software such as Raisers Edge and desk top publishing preferred Willing to work limited extended hours to support special activities and other deadlines Candidate must successfully pass the Loaves & Fishes adopted pre-employment Drug & Alcohol test and criminal background check. 70% travel within Washington, Multnomah and Clark counties required.
