This fun event for the entire family will promote community awareness of arthritis and related rheumatic diseases, as well as raise funds to support services to the 119,000 Alaskan children and adults living with arthritis. The money raised in the Interior will stay in the Interior, providing more services and programs for children and adults living with arthritis in the Fairbanks area.
Our goal is to have 300 racers, runners and walkers. The event starts and finishes at the Santa Claus House and features a 5K fun run/walk, in addition to arthritis information, health and vendor booths, individual and team holiday costume contests, music, and, of course, JINGLE BELLS, which are given to each participant to tie to their shoes. This is an event for the whole family, including the dog(s).
Thirty (30) volunteers from the community are needed the day before (July 9) and day of the event (July10). We need your help! Please contact Laura Goss, Alaska Branch Manager, at (866) 997-2784 toll-free in Alaska.
Running/Jogging/Walking teams and individuals raise funds prior to the Jingle Bell Run/Walk to honor loved ones living with arthritis, and to help the Arthritis Foundation deliver its mission to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control, and cure of arthritis and related diseases. This is especially important in Interior Alaska, as there are no Rheumatologists in the Fairbanks area. The Arthritis Foundation, through our Public Education and Professional Education Programs, brings Rheumatologists to Fairbanks annually to both speak with the public and answer their questions, and to educate Fairbanks Health Care Providers on the newest diagnosis and treatment practices for people with arthritis.
