Why is this study being done?
Due to concerns of biowarfare and bioterrorism throughout the world, the United States government is making efforts to improve its ability to protect its citizens in the event of a possible bioterrorist attack with the smallpox virus. The purpose of this research is to compare the ability of a new investigational smallpox vaccine called IMVAMUNE® to produce a strong immune or defensive response against smallpox disease if given as one single, higher dose compared with two lower doses given one month apart. Another purpose of the study is to see how quickly someone might be protected against smallpox.

Important points regarding the study
• To participate, you must be healthy, at least 18 years of age, and born after 1971.
• You may not participate if you have ever received a smallpox vaccine.

Payment & Time Commitment
You will be paid $75 per visit for each completed visit (about 10 visits over about 7 months).
