Now offering piano lessons for beginners both adults and children.
The Piano is the “Rosetta Stone” of the musical instruments. Piano instruction offers both the skill of playing the instrument as well as a comprehensive understanding in music theory and practice. The same musical language may be applied to most of the instruments around the world. Many musicians who learned the piano have in turn picked up other instruments with ease and even compose their own music. Musical training teaches multitasking and coordination of mind and body and appreciate music unattainable otherwise and discover abilities they didn't realize they posses. One learns the process of learning itself; how to examine problems and work toward solutions. it helps with emotional balance offering the ability to “work out” problems while you play. Learning to play music with others teaches cooperation and compatibility in a “non competitive” environment.
I began piano lessons in the early Sixties in Fullerton, California. I continued private study though 1975. Specializing in Classical music and theory, my latest teacher was the prominent performer Leann Gibson who specialized in neoclassical music focusing on Scriabin and Chopin.
I began teaching piano to children in 1973 and held many students though my high school years. After taking a “break”, I resumed teaching in the late '80s and early '90s: both private lessons and in a Montessori School in Norco, California.
In Winter 2010 I resumed piano instruction in Newport News, Virginia. If you wish to enroll yourself or your child in piano lessons, please email or call for more information.
