The Global Autism Project is seeking a VOLUNTEER Marketing Coordinator with for its signature fundraising event, the Paddle for Autism Awareness to participate and help lead our event on August 24, 2010.

The Global Autism Project works with children with autism in developing countries. Every summer, in several cities across the country, children with autism kayak (many of them for the first time in their lives) with their friends and families!

This position is an exciting opportunity for motivated individual(s) to work with autistic children and to help make a difference in Los Angeles! This year’s events will take place in Boston, New York City, Chicago, San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Denver, Phoenix, Portland, OR and Seattle, WA.

Duties Include:
• Communication with media providers, advertisers, and various third parties
• Soliciting all local news media
• Technical preparation of any press materials
• Documentation of all local press received
• Advertise the event throughout social networking websites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc
• Participate in weekly conference calls with the city leader and on-site coordinator

• Flexible hours – mostly work from home
• 5-7 hours per week

Qualified Candidates will:
• Work well under pressure
• Enjoy working with people
• Take initiative
• Be responsible
• Knowledge of publishing, media acquisition and technology is preferred but not required.

About Our Project:
Founded in 2003, the Global Autism Project is a non-profit organization that works to bridge the global gap in the resources and understanding of autism. We address these needs by first establishing and utilizing any available resources and setting up partnerships to work with the local individuals currently providing services.

The fundamental belief that all children with Autism and their communities deserve effective resources guides our work, as well as the belief that education leads to understanding and acceptance of differences.
