The Global Autism Project is seeking a VOLUNTEER Event Director for its signature fundraising event, the Paddle for Autism Awareness scheduled to occur on August 24th in Los Angeles. The Global Autism Project works with children with autism in developing countries. Every summer, in several cities across the country, children with autism kayak (many of them for the first time in their lives) with their friends and families!
Duties of the Event Director include: • Leading kayakers on event day • Recruiting key volunteers • Contacting local vendors for donations of gear and/or sponsorships • Overseeing the smooth-running of the event • Assist City Leader in registering participants • Help plan the logistics of the event (includes being in constant contact with the venue and participants)
• Flexible hours – mostly work from home • 3-5 hours per week • Participate in weekly conference calls with the city leader and on-site coordinator
Qualified Candidates will: • Work well under pressure • Enjoy working with people • Be outgoing and have a positive attitude • Be reliable and motivated • Some kayaking knowledge is preferred
This is a great opportunity for an undergraduate student or a recent graduate to gain valuable leadership experience while gaining insights on event planning. If you want to add valuable experience over the summer while making a difference but also have other commitments, this position might be perfect for you.
