POSITION DESCRIPTION The Company is seeking a Director to help originate, negotiate, structure, and execute photovoltaic project finance transactions in the US and internationally. This requires very strong negotiation and analytical skills, extreme attention to detail, excellent communication and multi-tasking skills.
The Candidate would report directly to the CFO and lead the companys efforts to evaluate, structure and monetize its pipeline of utility-scale solar project opportunities.
RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the assessment, initiation and documentation of various project finance transactions
Develop and maintain relationships and coordinate directly with banks, institutional investors, JV partners, and legal teams to manage the timely funding of current and new solar project transactions. Liaise with the traditional project finance community to educate them on the attributes of different solar technologies.
Manage internal and external legal staff and advisors in the drafting, negotiation, and execution of term sheets, financing documents, and contracts associated with solar project financings as well as coordinate financial due diligence with team members of other disciplines
Prepare information memoranda to help potential lenders and investors evaluate RES-sponsored project financings and investment opportunities
Assess and make recommendations regarding debt and equity financing proposals and alternatives
Clearly articulate the risk and rewards of potential transactions to the executive management team and Board of Directors and provide recommendations for mitigation.
Generate the financial analysis, investment appraisal, economic evaluation and risk analysis of solar projects. Guide analysts in financial modeling as a result of prior direct financial modeling experience involving the following: real estate, partnerships, EBITD&A stressing, economic drivers, tax variables, etc.
Manage the creation, operation and maintenance of complex models to analyze, value and price potential project-level and corporate-level investments
Assist with the origination and evaluation multiple power off-take alternatives and support developers prepare PPA bid packages
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES Type-A self-starter with the ability to thrive and effectively operate with high energy and flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving team environment .that requires prioritizing, performing with a high degree of accuracy and meeting tight deadlines
Ability to originate, negotiate, and execute solar project financing structures using a variety of non-recourse project finance structures including sale-leasebacks, partnership flips, and debt and equity.
Ability to apply financial and structuring knowledge to develop innovative modifications to existing project and financing documents as well as lead the development of new structured finance solutions that support corporate goals and the requirements of different geographies or clients.
First-hand experience sourcing and leading debt and equity transactions
Project management and complex financial modeling experience.
Exposure to PTC, ITC, partnership tax and accounting issues
QUALIFICATIONS 7 years of prior transactional experience working within project finance, structured finance, tax equity, lease finance, asset-backed finance, M&A, investment banking, municipal finance, large commercial real estate underwriting, securitization of various asset types, or private equity with significant experience leading the origination, negotiation, and execution of transactions.
Project finance industry and advanced modeling experience is an absolute pre-requisite Prior experience working on solar, wind, or other energy project finance transactions is a plus.
Desire to work in a rapidly growing company in the renewable energy field.
Keen understanding of energy market dynamics and the thirst to stay current with changing technologies, regulations and trends influencing the continued adoption of renewable energy
Prior international and emerging market transactional experience is a plus.
Excellent communication skills in both oral and written English with additional language skills.
Advanced Excel skills, familiarity with Word and PowerPoint.
EDUCATION Masters Degree or MBA with emphasis in Finance or related studies.
Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Physical Science, or Economics preferred
