Hospice of SLO County is looking for a new Director of Counseling.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for the overall development, coordination, and administration of the counseling programs, which includes consultation with program staff, interns, and counseling volunteers. The position requires the ongoing maintenance of a high quality of service in the counseling department.
2. The lead in Community Crisis Responses to schools, non-profits and businesses.
3. Responsible for the promotion and development of new groups, classes, and programs.
4. Maintain accurate record keeping for statistical and quality control purposes. The Director of Counseling oversees the mailing and assessment of post counseling evaluations.
5. Provide rotational “on- call” crisis phone support through Hotline.
6. Responsible for periodic contributions to the bulletin and newsletter.
7. Work with the Executive Director and other staff to design and implement educational programs and materials for the general public and health care professionals. Will also work with the Executive Director and other staff to update all professional manuals, brochures and education packets.
8. Design and present trainings, talks, and workshops for Hospice programs in-house and for the community.
9. Acts as a resource person for all volunteers, staff, and board members.
10. Assures the highest quality of services by maintaining excellent communication with the entire staff and volunteers.
11. Functions as counselor and/or group facilitator as needed.
12. Supervises and trains Trainees and Interns in coordination with other licensed therapists.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. A Ca. licensed counseling professional; MFT or LCSW with a minimum of five year’s experience.
2. A clear record with the Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.
3. Excellent clinical skills and a working knowledge of grief counseling and group process.
4. Good administration, organization, and writing skills.
5. Public speaking ability and in-depth knowledge of grief and bereavement issues.
6. Enthusiasm and the ability to train, supervise, support, and motivate volunteers.
7. The ability to design and implement educational and service programs.
