For beginners or a great refresher course!!! Or just have fun!!! Learn how to can and know what ingredients are in your family’s foods.
This is a beginner class divided into four parts: three (3) one hour classes or (1) three hour class in theory on the basics of canning; covering the ‘why and how to’ of canning and the equipment needed to accomplish this process safely. An additional ‘clinical’ one to two hour actual hands on canning session is also part of the course. USDA food preparation guidelines are followed.
Three sessions of classroom learning with hands on training of equipment, with an additional clinical session of actual preparation of a canned vegetable or fruit. Food preparation and different canning methods will be explored. The tools and equipment needed to can properly and safely will be demonstrated and utilized.
Clinical sessions are available after completing the first three classes.
Classes $35 each hour/session Clinical sessions $50 Discounts for all four sessions and Mother and Daughter or Bring a Friend packages are available. Certificates will be provided to participants who complete the full course. A course syllabus as well as handouts will be provided and additional printed resources and recipes will be available.
