Are you someone who wants to make a real difference in another personís life? Do you have experience or an interest in working with people who have a disability or experience Autism?
We are seeking extra special people who have a heart for care-giving to be Companion Home Care Providers. We seek someone who is dependable, responsible and compassionate and understands that this is not an 8-hour shift, but a 24-hour lifestyle career. You must live in your current home with the individual, if it is approved as an appropriate setting, or choose an agreed upon rental home.
This lifestyle career includes all aspects of caring for the home and daily living skills support, including purchasing and preparing meals, personal and hygienic needs, coordination of medical appointments, some hiring/scheduling of respite care providers, and all aspects of planning and creating a full and meaningful life for the individual.
In collaboration with the individual with Autismís family, you will have ongoing support on best-practice methodologies in autism, and extensive support and guidance from parents/guardians and from specialists in the field of autism as needed. This is truly a teaching, training and care giving career.
Respite care totaling between 75-100 hours per month will be provided, recognizing that this is a lifestyle career of 24-hour care and companionship. Additional respite time is provided by the individualís family in the form of off-site outings and visiting on a regular basis.
Companion Home Care Providers earn between $5,000 to 5,500 per month, through a contract with the State of Washington. This position is offered to Washington residents and will be located in Clark County.
The ideal provider would be a couple, married or not, with a male being the primary caregiver, aged at least 28-30 or above, with an active lifestyle. Couples should only have grown children if any, and both people ideally have personal or professional experience with disabled individuals.
This is not an entry-level position, or elder care. This is a position with a person who has the diagnosis of classic Autism. If you cannot walk five miles in any weather (any), or you are unwilling to learn new things and take directions from experts, then do not apply for this unique opportunity. Candidates must pass a criminal background check, speak fluent English, preferably as a first language, and be physically and mentally fit, and have reliable transportation and insurance coverage. The minimum commitment for this position is 3 years. References will be checked and interviewed.
Interested parties may email inquiries and Qualified applicants will be contacted swiftly for further information and/or interview. Thank you for your interest, and for work you have performed in this field.
