A bit about me: Scott Miller has been in the musical instrument industry for several years. He built his first electric guitar in high school. He then tried to pursue his music career by attending Berklee College of Music in Boston. Realizing his real passion lied in creating the instruments, he attended Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery. After graduation, he worked as a guitar builder and repair technician for the master luthier, Michael Spalt. Michael’s approach to the electric guitar was very different from other guitar builders. It was here that Scott honed his woodworking skills and repair techniques and also learned how to work with other materials such as aluminum, bone, and plexiglass. While working for Michael, he repaired and modified guitars for many well-known musicians and producers. Scott was also offered the opportunity to produce Zen Riffer Keyboards. Building these “far-out” instruments allowed him to experience different aspects of the industry, such as research and development. Scott has been building his own guitars since he graduated from Roberto-Venn. Most of the guitars he builds are specific to each customers’ needs. He specializes in set-neck electric guitars, relicing (aging), fretwork, headstock repair/replacement, and bolt-on neck duplication. Scott Miller has recently relocated from Los Angeles, CA to Portsmouth, NH. The town of Portsmouth seems to be very happy with the new services that Scott offers, such as: stainless steel refrets and potting microphonic pickups and he will soon offer pickup rewinding and restoration.
