Software Engineer: Web Applications Developer

If you think you can implement something like Meebo from scratch “OR” from scratch, then just stop here and apply (jump to NEXT STEPS). Why? Because you’re in! If you think it’s an “AND” not “OR”, then stop, reply right away, and title the subject line: “Please call me at 650-***-****” . You get the gist.

This is our chance to add an impressive team member to our fresh hot Stanford-alum founded startup backed by a few individuals you read about and see on TV.

-BS, MS, or PhD in CS/EECS (or equivalent) + ability to implement both the client and server side.
-You should understand video streaming and protocols like Ekiga, XMPP/Jingle, Empathy, etc.
-Ability to express your thoughts and suggestions lucidly and in a step-wise manner. e.g. on paper.
-Familiarity with (and attachment to) debugging tools pstack, gdb, and strace.
-Ability to handle pixels, or at least mask them.
-Object-oriented JavaScript experience.
-Ability to manage a JavaScript front-end (AJAX, Jabber, etc)
-Prior experience managing version controls; neatly documenting, committing and updating code.
-Make mistakes. Yes, that’s right. Make mistakes and correct yourself.

You will be building a platform that consists of 3 to 5 web apps, and users will be able to login using a single sign-on process. e.g. meebo website. This role requires that you are intimately familiar with IM clients or apps like Gmail chat, MSN, AIM, Yahoo IM, etc. But there’s a catch: you will be working on the video components of those chat clients. e.g. Skype.

Client Side:
-Raw and intimidating AJAX skills

Server Side:
-PHP and C/C++ are essential for consideration. If you’re a Python ninja, that’s a bonus.
-RoR will be lightly used, so it is recommended.
-Prior experience developing on Linux platforms
-Build from scratch and optimize the infrastructure that “you” suggest.

Compensation and perks:
-Competitive salary: Cash and stock
-Ah...we dare say "free lunch" and a lot of freedom, but please don't abuse the latter.

If you this sounds like you, please reach out and tell us what your most amazing hack to date has been. Please, don’t send your resumes. Not yet! Most resumes are overly exaggerated. It’s why we like to start with the person on the paper not the words on the paper. OK…so, let’s do it. What’s your most intriguing hack so far?
