Our preschool emerges out of the need to raise children who belong on this Earth. A firm connection with land, animals, and each other is the way to make a future of Peace. An Education of connectedness, cultivation, play, imagination and responsibility is a basis for happy lives. Children learn well in the broad diversity and ever changing dynamic of being in nature. We strive to engage with our environment and also to co-create it. Happiness is part of the curriculum and strong, happy minds and bodies are the product of our children's beginning walk on the Earth.
A once per week Forest Preschool is offered as a means of accessing the most wild and native parts of our city. We spend a collective day in the Seattle Arboretum, Magnusson Park, or other large green space. Visiting community gardens in the area is another learning experience opportunity our children will be offered.
The values created through our unique curriculum are intended to imbue the next generation with a sense of love and responsibility for the Earth and each other. We learn about our inter-relationship with one another, plants, animals, celestial bodies, nourishment. Art and science, music, movement, storytelling and communication occur in both spontaneous and guided activities, all in the living garden that we make our school.
