Sierra Expeditionary Learning School (SELS) is seeking a Founding School Director. The Director will operate and manage every aspect of the SELS program, providing educational opportunities for students within the guidelines provided by the SELS Charter, Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD), and California law.
SELS is an independent public charter school that will open in the fall of 2010 initially serving grades K-5th and growing to serve K-8th grade students. SELS will offer a small school environment dedicated to academic excellence, diversity and the building of character and community. Collaboration, cooperation, and teamwork are integral components of our school. Through ongoing professional development, SELS staff members are supported in engaging, active pedagogy practices. Fieldwork, service-learning, student-led conferences, exhibitions of student work, and family involvement are core features that contribute to a school culture of respect, responsibility, and engagement in learning.
Education and Experience: *Master's degree or higher in related field. *Current California Administrative Credential. *Expeditionary Learning experience. *Three or more years classroom teaching experience. *Spanish fluency (desired but not required).
