So what about music?
*This is a "pop" contest. Which covers anything except opera. You can perform basic pop, country, original music, retro, broadway etc. (You do not get extra points for doing original music) *We are not putting a time limit to the songs but are asking everyone to keep it near the 3 minute mark. *You must have your music on a cd (Have a back-up or 2 just incase) *Accompanying yourself on guitar is allowed as long as you are tuned and ready to go when it is your turn. *Singing without accompanyment is allowed *All contestants should have a second song with them. In the case of a tie,it will be used and should be a different type than the first. IE...If you do a slow ballad for your song and you tie as a winner, your second song should be fun and upbeat.
What if a contestant wants to perform with someone else?
You may perform as a duo or small group and there is no extra fee. However, you are judged as one. So if one person "messes up" you both/all "Mess up"
What if a contestant wants to perform in a group and perform solo?
This is allowed but it would be 2 completely different performances with 2 different time slots so there would be an additional $35.00 fee.
What age will the contestants be?
7years of age is the minimum. After that, there are no age restrictions.
Will there be monitors for lyrics or can contestants use lyric sheets?
No this is not a Kareoke contest but a singing competition. It is open to anyone but is designed for those aspiring to be professional vocalists. Everyone must know the lyrics.
What will each contestant be judged on?
*Vocal quality *Knowledge of material (no forgetting the words) stage presentation *Originality (this has nothing to do with having an original song, rather how it is presented) *Song choice,(Does it work for you? Is it appropriate for your age?) *Appearance, (this has nothing to do with how attractive a person you are, but are you dressed appropriately for your song and "look the part") *Audience resoponce
