I am offering personalized beginner Hatha and Yin Yoga and Meditation lessons!
The most effective form of Yoga, and the quickest way to reach your goals is to obtain personalized/private yoga lessons.
Are you too busy to attend a registration class at your local studio or health club?
Do you easily get distracted attended group classes?
Are you recovering from illness or an injury and would prefer a slower paced class?
Or perhaps you are new to Yoga and need help to get started?
No matter what your reasons for seeing me privately to obtain a personalized Yoga session, we will begin with an assessment of how you are feeling at that moment, both physically and mentally. This brief overview will also give you a chance to let me know your goals and desires. Based on that assessment, I determine which asanas (postures), breathing practices and meditation techniques I will lead you through. A good personalized Yoga session depends on uninhibited communication between the student and teacher.
I may frequently ask what you are experiencing throughout the session. These questions serve two purposes: 1. Your answers help me determine what we may do next. 2. It helps remind you to stay aware of listening and trusting your body’s needs. Yoga can be hard work both physically and mentally. I will guide you by verbal instruction, demonstration and hands-on direction. You will have a chance to explore yoga in a way that is practical and beneficial. Strength, endurance and range of motion will develop via a pace that is patient and sensitive, not via force.
Private Sessions often include: • Meditation • Breathwork • Restorative Yoga • Yoga Postures • Philosophy & Spiritual Direction • Stress Management & Relaxation • Customized Yoga & Home Practice
The above lessons are approx. 1:15 min in length: Yoga sessions are offered at: Private: $25.00/hour. Group sessions (3 or more): $12.00/per student/per hour.
I require a 48 hour cancellation notice. I make time for you, please be mindful of my time as well. Thank you.
I grew up in Berlin, Germany and moved to the United States in my early twenties.
I completed my Yoga training in the Himalayan tradition with Yoga North in Duluth. This year I returned from India where I was fortunate to experience Karma, Jyana, Bhakti, Chakra Yoga, meditation and studies of holy texts such as the Bhagavad Gita. My most recent endeavor is my process of Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Teacher Certification through the Trauma Center Institute. I currently teach classes in Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga and Meditation.
I deepen my love and knowledge by regularly attending workshops, including recently, ‘Thai Bodywork’, ‘Radiant Eating as taught by Mark Powell’, ‘How to Reduce Your Pain with Therapeutic Yoga' as taught by Susi Hately Aldous, 'Ease in Postures', 'Understanding the Breath', 'Body Balancing' and 'Transformational Dance and Movement'. I also studied Meditation as taught by S.N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin, at Dhamma Pakasa in Pecatonica, IL.
I find great value in dedicated yoga practice and meditation and hope to invite a sense of calm and ease into our bodies, to 'go inside', to help racing thoughts stand still and, ultimately, feel at peace. I feel Yoga, too often, is made to look like the images in a yoga magazine and hope to relay that it is not only about the practice of physical postures, but about practicing on and off the mat passionately, mystically and consciously, thereby uniting our mind, body and spirit.
My outside interests include parenting, traveling, music, reading, dancing, running, swimming, biking, nature, friends and family.
Looking forward to hearing from you! Om Shanti, Kiki
