We are a small center (licensed for 31 children) that is looking to hire 1 or 2 additional lead teachers. The lead teacher will have to be someone that is warm and friendly and is able to work with a variety of ages. The position will include some nights and Saturdays. Here is a basic description of what the lead teacher will be responsible for:
LEAD TEACHER: It is the responsibility of the classroom teacher to provide a warm, safe and nurturing atmosphere where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individually respected.
* To offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of both the individual and the group. * To interact with the children and to encourage their involvement in activities. * To prepare a warm and safe environment that is orderly, clean and appealing, and permits the child to grow and to explore. * To plan weekly lesson plans based on a curriculum outline. To provide aides with the opportunity to have input into the program. * To establish and maintain good communications with parents through parent/teacher conferences twice a year, and on a daily informal basis. * To observe, record and report significant individual and group behavior. * To use appropriate and positive discipline. * To maintain all records and files. * To keep informed of program goals and developments with children, parents and administration. * To attend all staff meetings. * To keep a list of needed supplies and suggested equipment. * To prepare materials needed for the program. * Perform related duties as assigned.
