ATTN: ASSISTANT UNIT MANAGER (HIRING NOW)

Location: Tillamook, OR (also mill site)

Salary: DOE


Job Description: Assist with on-the-ground implementation of harvesting,
Planning, preparation, road construction, maintenance, and related management
Activities to maintain long term production of lands within management unit.
Must be able to use company inventory and GIS software, prepare reports, and
Maintain records regarding areas harvested, accessed and land use classifications
For efficient management of timberland.
Assist in the preparation, negotiation, and administration of individual contracts to
Carry out forest management activities.
Prepare, monitor, and provide input for budgets and forecasts.
Assist in all aspects of planning and related land use including reports and unit
Protection.
Implement company policies, including Stimsonís Forestry Principles and
Compliance with the Sustainable Forestry initiative.
Ensure that all activities are in compliance with State and Federal laws.
And participate in efforts related to security, fire protection and recreational projects.

Qualifications:
The position requires a degree in resource management, preferably a 4 year degree with
A major in one of the forestry disciplines.
Successful applicant must have field experience in forest land management, including
Supervisory and operational responsibilities (not required for entry level. However
Job grade level assigned is dependent on qualifications and experience)
Knowledge of Western forest silvicultural practices, operational costs, log markets
And ability to operate within stringent and complex forest practices regulation arena.
Skills in effective oral and written communication.
Use of computer databases, spreadsheets and software (ArcView, ForstView and
ArcMap).
Communicate and work effectively with external contacts.
And ability to operate with minimal supervision, in adverse weather conditions,
And on steep, uneven terrain.
