EN-788 C++ Programmer - Contract - Bethesda, MD

The Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications needs a C++ programmer to support research in the fields of genetics and bioinformatics.
This division of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) was established in 1968 to conduct research and development for improving health-care information dissemination and use.
Research projects include digital library research, automated indexing techniques, vocabulary and thesaurus research, natural language processing, medical knowledge representation, image processing, database design, machine learning, expert systems, and computer-based learning.
Note: This organization values innovative problem solving over generic coding skills. To be a good fit for this job, you must have excellent critical thinking and logic skills and excellent communication skills with which to explain your designs and solutions.
Requirements:
o. 5+ years experience coding OO software in C++ (Required)
o. Degree in Computer Science or related field (Required)
o. Excellent communication skills (Required)
o. Experience with XSLT a plus
o. Experience with SQL a plus
o. Advanced degree a plus
o. Previous experience in bioinformatics or biotech computing a plus
o. Previous experience in computational linguistics a plus
