Description: Youth for Christ West Puget Sound is seeking 1 full-time (40 hrs per week) or two part-time (20-25 hours per week) Independent Living Skills (ILS) Counselor. Per contract requirements, the ILS Counselor must have a bachelorís degree in social work or related field. The ILS Counselor is responsible to assist youth, ages 15-21, in their transition into independent life before and after emancipation from the foster care system, including finding safe and stable housing, educational opportunities and employment. The ILS Counselor will be responsible for managing a case load under the conditions required by the state contract. The Salary is $12.00 per hour (DOE). Skill / Ability Requirements:
YFC ILS Counselor must adhere to the YFCWPS mission statement, core values, statement of faith, five essentials, guidelines and policies. Bachelorís degree in Social Work or related field 2 years experience highly preferred Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate youth availability Utilize local churches and community partners to recruit qualified volunteers for the ministry site Desire and ability to engage program youth in individual and/or group trainings Work closely with youth on education, employment, housing and transitional needs Strong communication skills with youth, ages 15-21 Ability to develop strategic goal plans to meet individual needs of youth Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Publisher (preferred)) Professionalism required; ability to work with Childrenís Administration, other Independent Living providers, local schools and other partners to provide quality services to youth Strong ability to meet deadlines Strong writing skills Complete internal reporting for contract compliance for each youth on case load Accurately document case notes Create regular learning plans for youth on case load Provide regular updates and progress reports to social workers and other vested parties as needed Follow YFCWPS monthly timeline and events calendar (staff meetings, reporting, etc)
