Here is a natural Colombian Emerald out of the Muzo mines in the Bogota area, South America. They have been getting very little gem quatily rough out of these mines in the past two to three years. This gem has really nice color and is pretty clean for a emerald, emeralds are considered a type III gemstone which means that they are normally included to heavily included. This emerald isn't that nice but is a beauty, it is a 6.0mm square cut, weighting: .97 carats, has a really nice color and is rated at SI1 clarity. Emerald is part of the Beryl species, they are rated 7 1/2 to 8 on the hardness scale, emerald is double refractive with a 1.59 on the refractive index. As you can see from the pictures this gem has beautiful color with that glow that your higher grade emeralds have, and for a emerald this dark in color it is really clean and cut well.
